Well you could argue that music is a craft I guess- music is made with the hands, without them there'd be none lol!

Hmmm but then the shop HobbyCraft doesn't sell anything relating to music, general books e.t.c Surely there is already a section on here where you could discuss that kind of thing. I think if you have too many different boards it gets a bit silly.

I just assumed it was named after the craft shop.

Well yes, it's a play on the craft shop name for SEO purposes but we couldn't choose anything too close or we'd have been in hot water but well done for spotting it Joanna lol!

A lot of crafts are hobbies too and and hence the hobby and craft forum name.

Hmm i suppose i would debate (sounds nicer than argue) that the craft part of the title denotes the type of hobby covered - I mean you could argue that as Off road driving is a hobby for some, we need a section for that, but unfortunately those kind of hobbyists go to specialised forums!

The 'hobby and craft' allows fellow craftspeople to join together in one place to talk about their 'craft' (which for many is much more than a hobby) and the name was, i believe, in large a way to attract people who are searching for a hobby/craft forum without breaking any copyrights yet allowing the name to come up on many search engines! Yes, you've hit the nail on the head Jo...there's loads of music forums around I'm sure but I'm not so sure music enthusiasts would be searching for a hobby forum...I think if I were a music enthusiast I search for a music forum or orchestras maybe???

I agree with you Jo, the problem is if too much is added the original idea would get lost as you said this is primarily for people to talk about their craft and the forum would become messy and to unwieldy to view. I read and love walking but my passion is my craft and I love this forum. Thank you again Nickie.

I always presumed that the hobby bit, was people doing crafts as a hobby apposed to doing crafts as a business, so If that is the case then the current name and layout fits perfectly....

Otherwise it would be called "crafts forum and other hobbies" :)

That's what I thought, too....arty, crafty things ARE hobbies...aren't they?
