I timed myself and it took just over 12 hours lol! I think my impatience got the better of me in the end and I ended up finding it a bit of a chore in the end. Maybe I'll make the next in shorter bursts lol!

the texture really suits the design and colours.. gives a sense of cottage garden flowers bobbing in the breeze! well done.!
Q:"did you enjoy yourself?"
A:"I had to, there wasn't anyone else here to enjoy..."

Im sure I remember my old Mum making rugs like that years ago. I can still see her sitting by the fire with it over her knee - 1950's i would think. Not so colourful as yours though.

LOL, yes it's an old old hobby I think Rog although I've only recently discovered it...there's some really naff design kits out there too which incidentally remind me of the 1950's lol!

Excellent first go. Now try doing a big one. As you said it gets boring if you try and do it all ijn one go. You get into the swingthough and can do it while watching TV, reading etc.

We used to do it with our grandmother on the table over winter. We also make rag rugs using old scraps of material. If you want to be really thrifty use old sacks (wash them first) though the weave is much looser so it is more time consuming. Rags make really thick heavy rugs.

My son has bags and bags full of old T-shirts Pete which I thought would be great for making a bigger rug out of, I just don't relish the thought of shredding hundreds of T-shirts into strips. Any tips?

is it fiddly to do? Looks like it could keep my lap warm making something like that, but I'm not sure if my arthritis is up to it. Can you get kits? I don't get out much at the moment. I have to plan it so well in advance.

Normal material will rip like newspaper but T shirts tend to be that funny sort of flannely material don't they? Good pair of scissors i the best that I can think of. Sorry
