Soap packaging!

Postby Nickie » 04 Mar 2010, 18:21

I was just browsing for packaging- not soap packaging as it happens and accidentally fell upon this site http://www.bayleysboxes.com/soap%20box.html. It's the first time I've seen spaeicalised of the shelf soap packaging before on a website, there's probably loads out there but these guys also do some lovely other stuff so have a browse- US based!

what a wonderful site, I've just had a browse. Sadly it's difficult to find such companies over here. I have emailed them to enquire if they ship to the UK.

Yes, the more and more I look for suppliers the more evident it is that we're lacking and lagging so far behind the states here in just about everything! I guess if you want something really special badly enough then the wait is well worth it- it'd just be so much easier if you could source this stuff on your doorstep especially as our postal system isn't so great! I had a leaflet put through my dor on Friday last week saying there was a parcel for me to pick up. I couldn't understand it as I hadn't ordered anything so wasn't expecting anything. When I picked it up on Monday, it was a parcel which had been post on the 6th January!!! Couldn't believe it lol! I know we had some bad weather around that time but it's taken them nigh on 2 months to get it here! How bad is that! Let me know what they say about shipping to the UK Sue, it'll be interesting to know!

Well, had an email back from Bayleys Boxes and sadly they don't ship to the UK, however they did say check back later in the year as they may be expanding their operations. The only soap boxes I have found so far are from Gracefruit but they are plain white and would need to be decorated or wrapped. We have a cardboard box company here in Grantham that will make boxes to order but I haven't enquired about the cost. I've been making organza bags for some of my soaps (when they are ready lol) finally put the overlocker to good use. It's difficult to decide on a wrapping, I have been experimenting with a cigar band and using handmade paper, even tried a beautiful gold and cream wallpaper. I think I need to holiday in America next year and take empty suitcases. Anyway, did you see those wondeful boxes from bayleys that looked like a bunch of flowers!!!! would love to put soap in those LOL

I hadn't noticed those before your post Sue- they're really beautiful aren't they! Everyone has the same problem when it comes to packaging soap as there isn't much choice out there really! I've seen the ones on Gracefruit and wasn't overly impressed...I'm defo impressed with you making your own organza bags though lol! You can get them really cheap if you look around though for only a few pence a bag if you're thinking more longer term- making your own may become too much if you start selling your soaps in any kind of quantity, not to mention take up a lot your time! That trip to America sounds like it might well be worth it...good suppliers are hard to find but once you have them you're made!

Just looking at these boxes, could you not make your own with colour printed card, I use CD roms print off onto card, then make up my own using the box maker, you can always double over to give extra strength.

Hi Sue

I have loads and am not sure what sort of pattern you want but you could try http://www.crafterscompanion.co.uk/ they have a lot of variety or if just backing paper try Sue Smith http://www.kameocards.co.uk/resource_cds.php her CD's are more resource which will mean you will only get backing paper not toppers as well.

I like their boxes, and they ship to the UK. I'm thinking of approaching a local box company here in Grantham for a quote on a custom size box, although I have found some very nice indian handmade papers to use as cigar bands. By the way, welcome to the forum, nice to meet you.
