If you want to make something like the vase you could try the sculpey site they might show you how to make that if not you want to go to the library and get a book on Polymer clay called faux surfaces that might help.
Or you can try polymer clay central very good tutorials on here.

I think you will find they use translucent clay or liquid clay to make the mosaics, I havent dabbled myself but Have seen it whilst looking for other things
