Hi there, great to see you here. I'd be interested to know how well you do at craft fairs, I've heard both good and bad things but mostly bad things if I'm honest? I can maybe help you out with your candle making although be warned, I'm no expert lol!

Hi thanks Nickie
Jewellery has been hard to sell i'll be honest, indoor craft fairs i do not do, I have had no luck with them, but depending on the weather outdoor fairs have been ok, no profit as such yet but I am getting repeated cutomers, it all depends on the weather this is my second season and the first one this year got rained off, thats why I am adding candles as its hard to get into farmers markets ect when you mention jewellery although I keep telling them mine is differrent from anyone elses locally as I make my beads and pendants from polymer clay.

I dont want to give up the jewellery as i love making it, but i could do with tips on optimising and marketing my website on a very low budget!!!

The candles I need help on scent, I have mastered a basic candle , also making the candle smell but to actually get it to make the room smell when it burns thats a different matter lol

i've not got very much time to respond now but I can defo help you out with advice in regards to optimising your website- it's something I've spent the last 2 years studying!

As for the candles, I know when I made my first ones there was a million videos on the internet but none of seemed to give exact recipes i.e. how much scent to add etc so it was defo a trial an error exercise. My first ones were a bit of a disaster as I used too much scent and the candles wouldn't burn properly so I just carried on making more batches with less and less scent in them until they burnt correctly. The trouble was, if the scent wasn't really strong to begin with, it didn't have enough scent throw to perfume the room so only certain scents worked in my personal experience.

Just a thought but have you thought about making cold process soap instead of candles...I now visit craft fairs quite regularly and I'm yet to see genuine cold process soap at a craft fair- it all seems to be melt and pour and if you can source your ingredients locally you won't have any problems getting into farmers markets, there's already somebody on the forum that does it...it was just a thought!
