Getting busy again

Postby bodrighy » 29 Jan 2010, 17:36

Perhaps not up to Carl's standards but so far this week I hav made the following.
24 crochet hooks for various people,

2 drop spindles, one double one single

and 1/2 dozen 50 - 70mm buttons for someone.
Image (Hawthorn & Spalted beech)
The last seem to be attracting a lot of attention ....bit of a surprise to me.

Yes, lovely stuff there Pete- as ever! I was talking to my fella about wood turning yesterday- something he used to be really good at (before I met him) but he now lacks the tools to do it but wishes he could do it again. Maybe you'll be his inspiration to get going again!

Ooh, can you do miniature bowls for a dolls house, you know, fancy ornate old fashioned typer bowls and pitchers and candle sticks and stuff? They would probably get a lot of interest from dolls house enthusiasts (especially this one lol). Ooh and do you know what I saw a few years back at a dolls house fair and I've never been able to find again since - a wooden pipe stand with 4 turned pipes in it, it was lovely - I'd love one of those, and wooden spoons, I could go on forever lol.

Oh wow! Anything miniature you can make I will buy, might have to be a bit at a time s I'm far from loaded, but as I say, you make it I'll buy it. Handmade is far better than commercially made. You really would do well to do a line of dolls house miniatures, marketed right they will sell well at fairs or online.

I don't do a lot I must admit as I have never really pursued the marketing but every now and then I have a play and make something. I'll see what wood I have as the grain has to be in proportion or it looks ridiculous. If I make anything I'll post it here first for you to check out

Yes, I know what you mean about the grain, its the same with material for clothes or soft furnishings the thickness has to be right and the pattern has to be in scale otherwise it looks so wrong. I'm sure I will love whatever it is.
