It's for splitting hazel or willoe withies in three. You are left with very pliable lengths of wood that can be used for basket making etc. This ione is going to be used by someone who is making some skeps (straw beehives) and he's paying me with a couple of * (dead and ready to eat, not l;ive, got one that's enough) I thought that there was someone on here who did basket making and might have guessed it.
