matchstick modeling

Postby headlessdude » 20 Sep 2010, 18:58

I am a novice and have just completed a bought model kit of St. Paul's Cathedral. I have now a big bag of matches left over and am looking for any plans or drawings so I can use the matches that were left. I really enjoyed sitting at my table sticking matches together - a real stress reliever!

Is there anyone out there that knows of a site/location that can supply plans/templates for model making?

I never worked with matchstick myself but I found a page, where they make a model plane with matchsticks (don't know if its any good):
Here: http://www.ehow.com/how_4448945_make-mo ... ticks.html

and I also found this page, where there are pics of 15 really cool models made out of matchsticks.. awesome!
here: (scroll down, there are a lot of ads on top of the site ;) ) http://www.thetoyzone.com/2009/blog/15- ... ck-models/ my favorite one, is the gorilla.

Thanks for the links. Awesome modeling there. They must have spent their entire spare time with them adding bits and pieces.

Still looking for actual layout plans or similar, or at least some instructions and diagrams. Even my local library had only one book on the subject - and that was already out at the time.

Am not sure where actually to start (on a wall for example). I think as a plan, I may take a photo of something interesting and edit the image with filters to remove the finer details leaving the structural shape and definitions. This may give me a simpler shape to work with.

I shall continue my search for other plans/ideas.

I know where your coming from. Nothing in the library and not much on the internet. I managed to download some ship plans from a website so I am going to attempt that, as for other plans I wouldn't know where to look. The kit I bought was okay but the cardboard cutout it supplied was not to pretty, but its all good fun.
