Shame you are so far away, my neighbour trained as a tree surgeon, as a result we get some stunning logs for our stove!! Too many in fact, we have had to turn down some from him!

Don't think you should mention burning and stoves near woodfolk you know!

I think I will drive past your house and lurk for some free logs.. we get ours for about 3.50 for a big sack (old animal feed sacks) which is quite cheap, but a free supply would be heavenly! I would have the fire on all day every day!

Ahh, but i am a good woodburner, the logs i have are a little diseased!! The prettier ones are sat in the logstore, right at the back! lol!

Do you have a wood yard near you at all? Our local one sells bags of offcuts (big rubble sacks) for £1 each, the smaller pieces are great for getting it started and some of the chunkier pieces burn well to keep it going! When the weather is like it is now, i quite often get the fire going with the offcuts and keep it going for an hour or so which is just enough to get a bit of heat going!

Dont even talk to me about the local yard!!

I do wonder they are still in business the attitude they have...

They sell offcuts and waste in those red plastic bags - like the ones you get kindling in at the garage.. £4.50 a bag!!! they alays seem to have plenty.. and not many custoners though!

Thank you,
I have given them a coat of safe oil. I don't do anything else as it just wears off, potentially into the food stuff. I sand them down to 1000 first so that they are ultra smooth

I bet your shed is a wondrous place.. :)

At the moment it is freezing cold, dusty, full of half finished projects and empty 'cos I am hiding in here doing this instead. :(
