Latch hooking- anyone tried it?

Postby Nickie » 01 Jan 2010, 18:27

Lordy, as I've stated elsewhere 'so many crafts, so little time'...

Has anyone tried latch hooking? It's supposed to be easy and I'm thinking about buying a kit- probably something really cheap just to practise on so I can buy my own stuff next time around and maybe even make my own patterns!

I have done rugs before but must admit not recently can be quite painful on the hands but looks really good when completed.

Harsh on the wallet too when you move away from kits.. take it from a freestyle "half cross" stitcher! amazing how mnay colours you just "have" to have!
Q:"did you enjoy yourself?"
A:"I had to, there wasn't anyone else here to enjoy..."

I so agree, you have to have them, may not use them but you never know!

LOL, I hadn't considered that either...why oh why do we get so addicted to these things and have to have absolutely everything even though we know when we're buying it that we'll probably never use it lol!

Does anyone have any pics of anything they've made?

Ooooooooo, that's another thought...do you usually get a hook with a kit or do you have to buy that seperately?

Sorry Caroline- I've wanted to try it for ages but with Christmas and my uncle dying etc it was put on the back burner! I did mean to make Allan's grandaughter a me to you rug for Christmas but she'll be getting it for her birthday in June at this rate lol!

Most of the kits will probably have a hook in them but check the package first. It is addictive and the results can be fantastic, to such an extent that you can go on to use fabric instead of wool.
