Answering the earlier question :)

I think there is a lot to be said for marketing a product party plan style. It builds on the catalogue based approach as it makes it more personal than just dropping a leaflet. People buy from people and we are essentially social beings who like to interact - and lets face it if it is jewlery kits your target are probably ladies and we all love a good excuse to get together, gossip and look a pretty sparkly things. It also has the advantage that people can see the products before they buy them so it can be a great way to get product to market relatively cheaply.

I met someone at a local craft fair who was marketing her own products that way and finding it was working much better for her these days that craft fairs were. I am not sure if she had tried web sales. She was however doing most of her own parties rather than getting others to do it for her, so you would have to factor in the time commitment or giving commission to those who do it for you.

Domain created on "2010-03-04" (April or March, not sure)
First started the website on 1st july 2010

Google: Within about 2 weeks (15th-20th July), I went from unranked to PR1
Alexa: Within the last 3 months, gone from about 12 million to "1,018,357" and climbing still...
1 month 0.00017 +260% Change in Reach over the trailing 1 month period
3 month 0.00008 +90%

My Keyword domain (plural):
Broad: 14,800 / 14,800
Exact: 9,900 / 8,100

My Keyword domain (singular):
Broad: 301,000 / 246,000 - (I * you not!)
Exact: 9,900 / 2,900

The broad match is in line with "Toshiba Keyword", "Sony Keyword", '19" Keyword', '26" Keyword' and so on so it's understandably high and gives me scope in the future to build up my website to catch long tail keywords in those areas too...

I'm not even doing anything with the website in a hurry, I know I should and if I did, I'd be do a lot better with my rankings. But oh well... Too many websites, too little focus on one project but I need to change that!!

Checked this website:
http://www.alexa.com/siteinfo/hobbyandcraftforums.co.uk

You're doing well in Pakistan lol No idea why it's presenting Pakistan as the local search statistic. All of my .com/.net..co.uk and .org.uk domains only show "GB" even with my French IP

http://www.alexa.com/siteinfo/jewellery-kits.co.uk - hasn't heard of you yet.

Regardless of whether jewellery-kit is better than jewellery-making-kit short term, you would have ranked for jewellery-making-kit and jewellery-making-kit

Although return visitors will find jewellery-kit easier to remember and to type out.

Hi Nickie

In reply to your Avon style canvasing, I worked for a catalogue company and we were all very aware that the company were the ones earning the great bucks, but It gave me and others something to do if you cant work full time.

I was fully aware my costs were quite high but I stepped up to sales leader, I had to back out as I was also working another catalogue and couldnt do both.

I do know that a lady who started same as me walking the streets in the rain!!! 7 years on is now area manager and still walks the streets, the sales are there on the streets and if your dedicated it works, as with all business's staff always know that the boss gets the money, thats just the way it all works :| unless you are your own boss

sorry for the ramble but i thought i would put a positive to your quest, go girl
