Is it Just me?

Postby makeitbig » 29 Nov 2009, 14:54

I buy bead magazines as I love the things you can make in them (amongst other reasons), but, I find it very difficult to understand the instructions in the tutorials, the pictures, as clear as they might look are as clear as mud to me when I come to try them out. I have to get someone to help me decipher them, or not bother making the item. I know it must be difficult to show someone on flat media how to do something like that and I am guilty also of not being able to think of a better way, but I never manage to make anything from them.

Is it just me? Does anyone else have problems with them?

Be careful what you wish for Carl lol!

Karen...always check youtube out for solutions- that's what I do although I don't buy beading mags lol! Here's a tutorial on weaving beads http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xI5eWhAn_FA. Not sure it's what you're looking for but put a few searches in...

Ooh thank you Nickie - I didn't think of that, will have a look through, might be a bit easier to follow.

No, its not just you! I also have a hard time following these types of instructions in "2D." If I can find a video online, I always try to go that route. Most of the time with tutorials, they will even zoom in so you can see exactly what they are doing in very very good detail.

I think these kinds of things are very hard to follow in 2D, even with pictures.

That said they are really hard to write too! I have written a number of Cardmaking and Scrapbook Tutorials and if you are not careful even the simplest things can sound really really complex!
