How's this done?

Postby Nickie » 23 May 2010, 13:08

I have a necklace I'd like to immitate with a few modifications. The problem I have is this...

The bracelet is made up of 5 strands of snake chain and they are held together by one end cap. The end caps don't have seems so they're not folding crimps and without taking the necklace apart (which I really don't want to do), I can't see how the chains are held together in the end caps? Will they be glued in some way or maybe held together with some kind of big crimp? Any help would be appreciated!

Hi Nikkie - this is my first post so not sure if it's possible but it might be helpful if you could show a picture of the bracelet end to get a better idea.

LOL, yes I meant to post one but never got around to doing it. Many thanks for your reply anyhow- it's nice to know somebody has a clue lol! I've searched around the net since I made that post and it seems like they're soldered into the end caps- might get my dad to show me how to do it at the weekend if I get the time...I'd naively thought I might get away without soldering and could maybe use something else instead but nothing is ever that easy is it lol!

If you're new to soldering it takes a bit of practice and equipment and a steady hand! That said, if it's under the end cap, you can get away with it not being so precise LOL! Good luck with - would love to see it once it's done.

Thanks (don't know your name lol)! Well it's like everything else I attempt, it usually take me weeks with interuptions from work and family etc lol! I take it you're a jewellery maker then? Do you have a website?

Oops - must have missed this - sorry! I'm Nicola and I make my jewellery and mosaic items. My website is shamefully out of date (been setting up a supplies business) but it's stickytiger.co.uk. Hopefully I'll squeeze a few minutes in to update it soon!
