Hello everybody

Postby Terry » 01 Mar 2011, 23:05

Hello - I joined the forum today. I am a woodturner. I make various wooden gift items, especially bowls but also little mice and other things. I am interested in all skilled crafts and am looking forward to following discussions here.

Hi Terry, we have another very talented woodturner on here named Pete, have you visited the wood forum yet? It's great to have you here anyhow and a big warm welcome from all of us!

Thanks everybody for the welcome! Yes I have looked at the wood forum, it seems a bit quiet there though. I do know of Pete, he takes part in other forums too.

Can I post a link on here?

We have a 20 post rule before posting links Terry to deter those nasty spammers...Ooooooo, I'm glad you know Pete, he's lovely and very talented too! do ytou have any pics of your work you can show us Terry? Yes, the forum as a whole has been very quiet of late and I think we only have Pete who posts in the wood crafts section. If you are friends with any other wood crafters, tell them to come on over, it'd be fab to see more of you here! I'm a fan of many crafts but have never tried wood turning-I believe it's quite theraputic? how did you find us by the way?

Hello Nickie - I just searched google for craft forums. I shall try to sort out a photo or two. Pity I can't just post the link to my site, you could see all my stuff then! Seriously, I think the 20 post rule is a bit tough. Of course I understand why you do it, but other forums allow it immediately or after a couple of posts. Perhaps you could post my link if you think people might be interested?

Yes turning is therapeutic, if you don't have to put in too many hours!

Yes, maybe it's something that needs reviewing and I shall defo suggest it! Incidentally, did the fact that you had to wait for your membership here to be approved put you off at all? We've recently had to implement this because of the amount of spammers littering the board with p*rn links etc and since the forum is open to anyone, young and old alike, I thought it best that we do this, at least temporarily! As for your post and signature, since I can see that you're a genuine member, if you PM me your website details, I'll add them to your signature for you!
