Google Adwords - Do you use?

Postby soapitup » 10 Dec 2009, 17:16

Does anyone on here use google adwords? and if so, how much do you spend on average per month? (if thats not too cheeky to ask)

I have never used it, but really want to, just worried I would waste money as I don't really know what to do and all the information seems double dutch to me (perhaps I'm just being a bit thick) so any advice, hints and tips would be greatfully recieved.

Thanks

I use them - I've got 2 campaigns (1 for Bath-Bomb.com and one for DeliPots). I have a budget of £30 per month for each of them so spend an average of £60 per month...but, apart from Ebay it's just about all of my marketing budget. A year or so ago I decided it wasn't worth it so I paused all my campaigns and saw a marked drop (of much more than £60) in my online sales...so I'd have to say it's worth it...

Best way to do it is to try a couple of key words and set a small budget of £1 per day or something...you can choose to have the ads on relevant sites - like amazon or womens pages etc...keep an eye on the stats and how many visitors are coming from the ads - let it run for a month and see what happens...
I've barely looked at mine for months :)

There's a great guy on A1 business forums called Mike Seddon who's an expert in Adwords. Google KKsmarts and you'll find him. He does webinars which are really easy to understand for beginers and cut out all the jargon with lots of advice on how to word your ads to get your quality score up etc. IMO Adwords campaigns can be great for business if you know what you're doing with it. You only tend to hear bad things about Adwords which is unjust in most cases, it's only a disaster for people who rush in without researching it properly and haven't a clue what they're doing!

Adwords are an effective form of marketing if used correctly as Nickie says - but do do your research into how to use them for the best results otherwise you WILL just end up wasting your money, like seo there are ways of using researched keywords to achieve the results you need. No research will cost you dearly and bring little or no results.
