First Candles.... YAY!

Postby joanna » 05 Dec 2009, 17:52

Managed to make my first candles this afternoon and must say I think the bug has bitten!!!!

They are very simple container Candles...2 made in some glass ramekins and one larger one in a jam jar.

No nasty accidents or tantrums so am very proud of myself though the whole house now smells of Vanilla!!!

Am going to decorate the ramekin dishes tomorrow as they will be little christmas gifts for 2 friends I am meeting tomorrow

Will try and post some piccies first though!!

Fantastic Jo. Brilliant stuff. I have to admit on a personal note I am not a fan of vanilla...candles,ice cream or otherwise.

Well done Jo!

Ae you packaging them up, would look nice boxed with a bit of vanilla pod tucked into the ribbon!

Well I had hoped some very thick and yummie ribbon would have arrived by now but it hasn't :( Having to be imaginitive with some thinner ribbon - didn't think about Vanilla Pods...good idea!

Joanna, hun i just realised who you are! Stampin' Hugs!!

Which ribbon do you have? you could double up the wider grosgrain, or bunch some taffeta together? I have some of the mega wide (stitched and striped) coming hopefully next week! Only used it on make and takes at field training and convention up to now but dying to have a good play with it!

Try the matchbox template on the SU site, but adjust it to fit the candles, and make the wrap from window sheets so you can see the candle through!

Put this together tonight, its an easy way to 'widen' your ribbon, i have used choc chip and very vanilla, but if you use all one colour it will give the impression of wider ribbon.
