External links in a new tag

Postby Tam » 15 Dec 2009, 09:13

How about when you click on any external link in a post it opens in another tag. I know you can use the right / click but have just got into the habit of click open, then close the tag and you are immediately back to the original post page.

I've been meaning to ask Shaun about this one myself Tam...it gets on my boobies having to click on the back button all the time! Great suggestion, leave it with me and I'll see if there's anything we might be able to do!

If I click on a link it automatically opens up in a new tab, think this may be how I set up my internet preferences, not sure how it was done but it works, so do not have to use the back button.

If you right click it will give you that option.

Hi Caroline.

What browser are you using? I use Firefox, have just checked my settings and I have the 'open new window in a tag' option. Yet if I left click on a link it opens in the existing tag. On other forums it works fine, left click and it opens in another tag, so I assumed it was the set-up on this forum that is causing it.

Yes, I'm using Firefox and have all the right boxes checked but it still opens links in the existing tab- it's defo the way the forum is set up- bear with us Tam, we'll get this sorted!

If you press the 'ctrl' when you left-click, links will open in a new tab
