Ecommerce website

Postby beloandme » 15 Jan 2011, 16:33

I use a website called shopcreator.com for my ecommerce website.
It kind of works like ebay where they charge you fees for any items sold but there is no charge to list items.
It is really simple to create and maintain!

Hi beloandme and welcome to the forum! That looks like a nice concept and your website looks good (it could do with a photo or two on the home page though).

What kind of fees do they charge and is there anything extra (hosting fees etc), also how easy is it to move to a new host if you ever decide that you have had enough?

Hi, Thanks for your reply.

I know what you mean about the pictures on the front - but it doesnt allow you to do this. This is one of the downfalls of the site.

The first month is free and then £12 a month after that. And you pay about 5% of any transactions.

Does any one know any sites that are better or cheaper to run than this

Hi Rachel,

Wow, that sounds very expensive! I know a lot of crafters use either Create.net http://www.create.net/features.phtml or Mr Site http://www.mrsite.com/product_comparison.asp both are cheaper but so much more flexible than what you are using.

You are welcome. I have heard a lot of good things about create.net. It has good support with a forum and also I believe you get the first 30 days as a free trial.

Hi there

My website is based on Cubecart ~ you can use the free version for nothing at all forever (I have had this since October but in the next coupld of days I a upgrading - just a one off fee) and no monthly costs, no charges everytime you sell an item, that sort of thing. Could be worth checking out if you want to lower your costs :D

Hi all,

Apologies for hijacking the thread but does anybody know of a good ECommerce solution that I can plug into an existing website. It must allow multiple sellers with their own accounts, management areas etc (kind of like Folksy but on a smaller scale).

Any advice would be appreciated.
