My daughter got me a drop spindle recently to help me cut the cost of my knitting. I need to know what you call the stuff you buy to spin? Needs to be for a learner, I'm a learner at most crafts!! Where can I buy some and how much does it cost? Hope someone can help. Does hobbycraft sell it? I'll be going there with a neighbour next week, or is hobbycraft going to be too expensive for an old lady with a pension?

You spin yarn which basically is a fleece that has been carded (combed out to get rid of rubbish) and washed. Thism is then teased out and spun on the spindle. Fleeces are very cheap usually though I can'r tell you where you would be able to get them. Check out any other crafters in your area as they may well be able to help

I make drop spindles for several people and they use carded fleeces. Beyond that I am not sure what you would call them to be honest. Maybe someone else will have more knowledge....not too hard
