Does anybody knit?

Postby Just Soaps » 30 Nov 2009, 19:31

Does anyone here knit?

Years ago, a woman was always knitting - they say it is making a come back.

I haven't knitted anything in years.

I used to do a lot of knitting - knitted the most amazing cardigan jacket with an intrigate peacock design on it - took me months. I wore it for years and then left it in a friends flat...kept forgetting to pick it up and she eventually binned it :((

I have a knitting machine under my bed too - but haven't knitted anything for about 17 years....

I knit and for 2007 and 2008 knitted a lot of scarves in fashion wool, the sold like hotcakes but this year gave it a break as I am not sure so popular now. Have not knitted a proper garment for years, all the wools I like would make the price ridiculous and end up cheaper to buy but sating that do love knitting as I can do that watching tv.

Lol I do way too much knitting! Still get strange looks though because I'm not a 90 year old grandma.

I never make big things like jumpers/cardigans though. I get bored before I've finished them.

I cant knit!! I have tried, numerous times, but if i start with 10 stitches, within a few rows i end up with 8 or 12!! Dont ask me how, but i have agreed to disagree with knitting!! Am constantly amazed at some of the things people knit though, there is some amazing work out there!

Do you know i struggled to find someone to knit us some bits! I bought the wool and the patterns (not cheap at all!) but could i find a knitter! She was a couple of weeks old when i found someone and the 2 cardigans and a hat come out beautifully!

I can honestly say if i could knit, i would definitely do some premie stuff and newborn stuff for SCBU and NICU units - we were so grateful for the small knitted hats and cardigans at our local SCBU, and it was so lovely to see our little girl in them when we went in, they had a lovely collection of knitted goodies in all sorts of sizes (i saw babies in there from 1lb to over 10lb!!) Hard to believe she will be 3 next week, which reminds me, we take a tin of choccys in on her birthday each year! Keeps the girls going through the long days and nights!
