Craft fair directory?

Postby lauralou1601 » 19 Nov 2009, 22:44

Myabe we can get a bit of a craft fair directory going? There seems to be loads of websites that advertise some craft fairs, but none that list them all, which means you often miss out on some realy great oppurtunities.
Let me know what you think

Think that is a very good idea, is there any chance of the list being searched by county ?

Your wish is my command oh Laura lol! I shall make a Craft Fair Directory section either later on tonight or tomorrow! Great idea although you may have to prompt me on where to start. I'll look into doing a search by county for you Carl...not sure it's possible but I'll do my best!!!

Yes, come to think of it, I don't recall seeing it done this way anywhere else either, defo something to look into and would make things so much easier for people to add their dates to and search through...great idea!

Whilst in theory, I think this is a great idea, I have reservations about it being on public view.

On another forum one can often see that guests or non participating members are just taking all the info but adding nothing in return.

If anyone is looking for an event in the East Midlands for a specific date - I will always help if I can.

Or perhaps I am being selfish?

i have too agree here, many of us spend alot of time looking for events and making contacts and while i don't mind at all passing on info to other crafters who work equally as hard it does mean the forum may get alot of "passing trade" of people just picking up events info .
maybe it could be a members only view thread ?

Yes, I take your point...I guess it's just a hazard of a public forum though as you're always going to get passing trade so to speak who don't really contribute anything and just take. Maybe if I only make it visible to members it would stop or at least put off people who came looking just for that reason alone. I'll have to get my thinking cap on! Thanks for the suggestions- keep them coming!
